Hubballi: Farmer Robbed at Siddharoodha Math’s Main Enterance
Hubballi: A farmer from Haveri district was robbed of ₹78,000 in cash and a tractor tool kit after being threatened by two unidentified individuals near the main entrance of Shri Siddharoodha Swamiji Math in Hubballi. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 14.
According to the complaint filed at the Old Hubballi Police Station, the victim, Subhash Goni, a resident of Desai Kallapur village in Hanagal taluk, had come to the city for business during the recently concluded Tulasi Pooja. On November 13, he brought sugarcane and flowers in his tractor to sell in the city.
After finishing his business late at night, Goni decided to sleep on his tractor’s trailer, parking it near the Math’s main entrance. The incident took place between 2:40 AM and 3:30 AM, while he was asleep. Two individuals reportedly woke him up, demanding tobacco.
When Goni informed them that he did not have any, the assailants grabbed him by the neck and threatened to kill him. They then stole ₹78,000 in cash, which he had kept aside, along with a tractor tool kit, before fleeing the scene.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits. They are also probing why the farmer chose to stay overnight in the city instead of returning to his village and whether he was under the influence of any intoxicants at the time.
